A commemoration event for Holocaust Memorial Day in Kirklees
Wednesday 26th January

Please join any or all the events:

6.15pm: Parade of The Weeping Sisters
A outdoor procession of large figures, reflecting the grief of women for the Holocaust and other genocides.
Starting at The Commercial Hotel, New Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2BW.
Please join the procession.

7.00pm: Commemorative event with words, music and candle lighting
With speakers and artworks from local schools and refugee groups, and featuring Leisel Carter who fled persecution from Nazi Germany as a young child. Attended by the Deputy Mayor of Kirklees Cllr Mahmood Akhtar and representatives of faith groups.
At St Paul’s Hall, Huddersfield.

8.15pm: Gideon Klein, Portrait of a Composer
Based on eyewitness testimony and letters, musicians and actors recreate Gideon’s precocious childhood –
the exciting artistic pre-war Prague, and the remarkable musical activities of his imprisonment in Terezín (Theresienstadt) concentration camp. Previously performed in the USA, Czech Republic, Germany and the UK.
