Istituto per la storia della Resistenza e della società contemporanea
The Institute for the History of the Resistance and Contemporary Society
Our project partner in Reggio Emilia, Italy, is ISTORECO which was set up in 1965. The institute is responsible for the protection and promotion of the documented heritage and memories of the resistance movement. It manages a collection of testimonies, research programmes and the promotion of educational and outreach activities on contemporary history in the territory of Reggio Emilia. It also manages the historical archive of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia.
The Institute is committed to remembrance, international exchanges and anti-racist initiatives aimed at young people. The main activities of the Institute are: study visits to memorial places; following the Partisan Paths in the Appennino Reggiano and the Trips of Memory that bring thousands of students from across Europe every year, to visit memorials and concentration camps.
